About ebooks

How many times can I download the ebook?

What is ePub format?

ePub is an open standard format for ebooks, a format used to publish electronic books, magazines and newspapers.

How do I read an ebook on my PC?

Some computers already have software installed. The easiest way to open an EPUB file is to double-click on it and let your PC decide which default application should open the file. If no program opens the EPUB file then you probably don’t have an application installed that can view and/or edit EPUB files.

If there is nothing already installed then you can download a free program such as Calibre or Adobe Digital Editions.

    • Download Calibre  (recommended, but make sure you click the ‘Download Calibre‘ link, NOT the big green button which will download a program called Download Manager)
    • Download Adobe Digital Editions (for Mac or PC):

How do I read an ebook on my iPhone, iPad or Android device?

There are plenty of iPhone and Android apps that allow viewing of EPUB files. If you don’t already have an app then we recommend trying one of the following:

  • Android  Google Play Books  (download from the Google Play Store)
  • iPhone and iPad  iBooks (download from the AppStore)

About the Diet

How do I know what foods to eat if I have a particular condition?

The book contains some lists of foods that can assist with particular conditions, as well as alerting you to foods that are best avoided if you are suffering from certain complaints and illnesses.

What if I’m vegetarian or vegan?

The book indicates whether each recipe is gluten-free, wheat-free, ovovegetarian, lacto-vegetarian, ovo-lacto-vegetarian, vegan or raw food, or if a recipe can be made a ‘friendlier’ version of any of the above with a few changes. Most of the recipes in the book which include meat can be made vegetarian with a few tweaks. If you want to stick to a vegetarian or vegan diet, you can substitute the beef, chicken, fish and seafood with mushrooms such as portobello, shiitake and oyster, or non-genetically modified tofu and tempeh which  would also be fine. The book also provides suggestions on how you can ‘veganise’, ‘health-up’ or at least lessen the cholesterol or saturated fat content of the recipes.

I need to follow a gluten free diet.  Will the recipes be ok for me?

Absolutely.  All recipes indicate whether they  are gluten free or wheat-free.  Where possible, Alison has made suggestions on how to make a recipe gluten free.

What if I have allergies?

Recipes that contain other common allergens such as soy, eggs, dairy, fish, prawns, crab, tree nuts and shellfish have their respective symbols so that you can easily identify whether a recipe is suitable.

Do I need to take supplements?

Your best bet is to consult a nutritionist or naturopath to discuss how you can customise the recipes to suit your individual needs, especially if you are dealing with more than one condition at the same time. You may also benefit from supplements such as vitamin B12 or spirulina, or even an alkalising supplement. Laura takes a heap of natural supplements too, so a strong partnership with your trusted health professional or naturopath is vital to your success in defeating disease, naturally. Laura also takes the tonic prescribed by the clinic.
